LONDON, U.K. -- Ensco plc has ordered an additional advanced-capability DP3 ultra-deepwater drillship based on the Samsung GF12000 hull design. The vessel, ENSCO DS-10, will be the eighth Samsung DP3 drillship in the Ensco fleet, further extending the benefits of Ensco’s fleet standardization strategy.

HOUSTON, Tex. -- Gyrodata has introduced the commercial availability of its new Gyro-Guide GWD90 system. Introduced at the 2013 SPE/IADC conference in Amsterdam earlier this year, the system is the company’s latest addition to its highly acclaimed Gyro-Guide Gyro-While-Drilling suite of tools. Capable of surveying up to and beyond 90 degrees of inclination, GWD90 represents a major step forward in accurate and reliable wellbore placement and drilling safety.

HOUSTON, Tex. -- Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) has announced the availability of a 10k psi capping stack for use in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The completion of the 10k psi capping stack–which stands 25 feet tall including the necessary lifting gear and weighs approximately 50 tons–marks another step in MWCC’s commitment to advancing well containment capabilities in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON, Tex. -- M-I SWACO, a Schlumberger company, has announced the introduction of the MD-2 dual-deck shale shaker. When combined with DURAFLO composite screens, the MD-2 shaker provides optimal solids control performance for drilling applications.

The licence partners of Gullfaks and Oseberg Area Unit have acquired two new category J jack-up rigs. The rigs will be owned by the licenses and will contribute to increased recovery and extended field life. Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. and operator KCA Deutag Drilling Norway AS have been awarded the contracts for construction and operation of two category J rigs, with operation start expected in 2016-2017.
